SleepSwap

As soon as the big sisters returned from their week at the cabin, they were eager to set up the new sleeping arrangements. We had talked about it a few months back but had decided to hold off until summer vacation. When we didn't have a 6:45am bus to catch.

Tuesday night Mallory moved out of her room to take over Coryn's lower twin bed and Coryn moved up to the top twin bed. Jo helped me drag a full-size box spring and mattress into Mallory's old bedroom. Then Jo grabbed her favorite books and arranged them on her new bookshelf. I wasn't sure how Mallory would do her first night in a bed, so I put Gloria to sleep in the cradle in our room.

The very first night Mallory had mixed emotions. She was smiling from ear to ear, SO HAPPY to finally get to sleep with her big sister. But also anxious. After tucking Mallory into her "big sister bed" she said she wanted to sleep in her crib. But as I was lifting her in the crib Mallory said she wanted to go back to sleep in the bed. I tucked her in the bed again and turned on her favorite lullaby, Everywhere by Pink Martini.

Coryn and Mallory chatted a bit, but by 9pm the house was blissfully quiet with 4 little ladies fast asleep. And best of all, ALL FOUR STAYED SLEEPING IN THEIR BEDS ALL NIGHT LONG!

That victory called for celebration. Mallory and I went to Piggly Wiggly and picked out donuts for breakfast. Hers had vanilla frosting and red sprinkles.

The next night I put Gloria to sleep in Mallory's old crib in Jo's new room. Everyone slept in their new beds all night long! And we're not looking back.
