Life these days can be a blur and buzz of activity. But when I sit down and become still and work hard to quiet my mind, there is a whisper.
The voice is faint and can instantly be drowned out by MOM! Can I have a snack?
Enter Thursday Night Yoga.
Matt bounds up the steps and into the kitchen at 6:57pm. I grab my yoga mat and walk the 8 blocks to the community center for 60 minutes of breathing, stretching, holding, and meditating.

My sister convinced me to try yoga. I showed up at a class offered at our church during Advent. It was free and on Sunday nights. The first time I went I was nervous. I am not a group exercise person. Over the past 9 years I had dabbled in some prenatal pilates and yoga from the comfort of our living room. But I needed an outlet. Time out of the house. Scheduled time off from mom duty.
And so it has taken some discipline and practice, but my Thursday night yoga routine is time to let go of my to-do list and tune into and listen to that whisper.
