Jo, age 9 plus10 months
Yesterday afternoon Mallory was hankering for some salami.
Gloria was napping. Matt was at work.
Jo offered to head to the Piggly Wiggly herself. Of course Coryn and Mallory wanted to go with.
I had a sense this might be a chance for Jo to exercise a bit of independence so I gave her a $10 bill and had the younger ones stay home.
Jo rode her bike down the block, crossed Main Street at the traffic light and continued two blocks down to the grocery store.
Twenty minutes later Jo returned with a pound of hard salami from the deli and a bag of pita chips. She was grinning from ear to ear.
She recounted her little adventure - being a bit confused on when to cross at the traffic light, how the deli clerk couldn't see her and was helping other customers, and how she had brought along a few of her own dollars in case $10 wasn't enough.
We celebrated with a pre-dinner snack of salami and pita chips.

This is really stinkin adorable
I can't tell what I love more, that Jo reported the cashier couldn't see her over the counter or that she brought a few of her own dollars "just in case." Love it Jo!
