Okay, let’s continue with the story:
One day, we were walking down our mountain. We saw a brand
new baby lamb. I was walking with Armando, Coryn and of course, me. So we named
the lamb CorMalRondo!
The lamb was white with brown spots on one side. And it had
little horns. Well, I call them horns, but they aren’t really horns. They are
more like an inch of horn on top of CorMalRondo’s head.
One day me and my mom were walking up the mountain. Now
this was about a month after the lamb was born. So, it was kinda independent.
We heard baa, baa, baa-ing and maa-ing. And CorMalRondo ran out from behind the
nursing home. The mom of CorMalRondo was laying down on a flat space, baa-ing
for her baby. The lamb ran right in front of me. I put my hand down, well, not
too far down. And I got to touch it! Because it ran right under my hand!
I felt filled with Joy!
Today, I was supposed to be taking care of Daniel and
Gloria came along. We went a little bit down the mountain and there was
CorMalRondo’s family! The mom, the dad, and the big brother of CorMalRondo.
Daniel was screaming with delight!
The mom was perfectly still and calm. Daniel and I sat down
right next to the mom sheep and CorMalRondo. Daniel stopped screaming and he
pet the mom sheep and CorMalRondo. Daniel picked some leaves off the trees and
gave it to the mom. And she ate it. She almost bit Daniel’s fingers, so Daniel
ripped his hand back. And he almost picked up CorMalRondo who was behind his
mom. And the mom stood up.
Since Daniel was leaning over, Daniel was on the back of
the mom sheep as she stood up. Daniel
was being hilarious! He was saying: go!go!go! And slapping the back of the mom
sheep. I took Daniel off. He was
screaming at me. I put him back on. Then he got off himself. Then he tried to
climb on the back of CorMalRondo. The lamb pushed him over. Daniel was going
like this: sniff, sob, sniff, sob.
Then, one of our neighbors passed by. He was the one that
always has his pants hanging low. Daniel stopped crying and he tried again to
get on CorMalRondo’s back. The mom and her baby moved on the other side of the
fence. Daniel tried to follow but he slipped and started sobbing again. I
carried Daniel back home.
I discovered that Daniel had a little bit of hair from the
sheeps in his hands. I could tell that one was CorMalRondo’s and the other was
the mom’s because he took from one of the brown splotches on CorMalRondo, which
no other sheep had. Daniel tried to kiss CorMalRondo’s fur but I took the fur
outside into the spot where Gloria had put her fur. I’m sorry. I didn’t tell
you that Gloria got some fur too, from the mother sheep.
I went inside and we thought our cook said lunch was ready.
But she didn’t. We were supposed to have the single guys team over for lunch.
Since we thought the food was ready, we got out plates and walked out to the
outdoor kitchen. And of course, she said, pa
fini. Which means, its not finished in Haitian Creole. So we read books to
pass the time.
Then our cook came in and said, the food is ready but what
she really said is: fini! So we went
into the outdoor kitchen and got ourselves some rice and some legim, which does
not really taste good in my opinion. But I eat it anyway. And still we have it
every Thursday.
In case you are wondering, legim is mushed up vegetables
that I don’t like! And some chicken. So its mostly like somebody else chewed it
for you. Gross! π
