For the past 12 months Jo's been anticipating the 4th of July. She's been planning and prepping for the main event - decorating her bike for the parade down Main Street. Matt and some trusty blue painters tape helped secure the streamers and flags on their bikes. The night before the girls set out their red, white and blue outfits. We made sure not to oversleep this year and arrived at the appointed meeting place behind the Village Hall ten full minutes before the start of the parade. The girls lined up their bikes in the middle of the pack and sipped some water while we waited.
Speakers mounted on top of an old fire engine blared The Star Spangled Banner. And once the song ended, the parade began. Even though Coryn is still a bit wobbly on her bike, we made it to the park without any spills or tears. We parked the bikes under a shady tree, grabbed a cup of vanilla ice cream and sat on the grass to eat. Then Jo and Coryn waited and waited and waited to have their faces painted.
Jo and Cokes had to nab the runaway Mallory who spotted a playground at the nearby daycare. Mom and Mallory ran out of steam by 8pm and didn't stay up for the fireworks. Matt, Jo and Coryn walked into the park to watch the show.

We saw those decorated bikes. How wonderful that the girls were part of America's celebration.
