During the big girls' last full week of school, Mallory helped to pack a picnic lunch. We headed to the lakefront and picked up GG on the way. GG introduced us to a new playground at Atwater Park. Lake Michigan was all shades of blue-green. Luckily GG packed along a scarf to bundle Mallory. She had fallen asleep during the car ride and awoke to a 15 degree drop in temp and a mighty lake effect wind. Mallory had fun playing on "the ark" - a large boat that swayed back and forth. Gloria did her best to keep up with big sister. GG treated us to frozen custard at Northpoint before heading home.
On Jo and Coryn's last day of school we packed up Ruby Red and caravan-ed with Uncle Andrew, Little Gram and Pop Pop TG to the cabin. Gloria slept maybe an hour and hollered the remainder of the way there. And yet she was begging to get back in Ruby every single day on vacation.
Dad and Uncle Andrew worked long hours washing, scrubbing, sanding, painting and polishing the new cabin from top to bottom. I think we've settled on calling the cabin The Lodge. Wildflowers were in full bloom - daisies, lupines and Indian paint brush. And the girls were delighted to kick off their summer vacation in the magical northwoods.
