Dear Josephine,
Today is your 9th birthday.
You may never fully understand how your very being changed the course of our lives. We are so grateful for the gift of your life, your light and your love. Your tiny 5lb self eased us into parenthood. All three of us learned to take care of one another, to trust and to lean on family and friends to help us along. As soon as Coryn was born you seized your new role as big sister and polished your art for Mallory and Gloria.
You are sensitive and smart. You are kind and thoughtful. You eaves drop on adult conversations (Mom did the same at your age). You love to read fantasy novels and draw (just like Dad). You know exactly how to calm and comfort your sisters when they are upset. You also know how to make them giggle and grin. You notice when Mom is worn out and naturally lend a helping hand.
You are a little afraid about this growing up business. We promise we'll be right here with you every step of the way. (And remember that Grandma Jo says 4th grade is the best year.) We wouldn't be on this journey of family life without you. You are a radiant young lady. We are blessed to have you as our eldest daughter.

Wow! Very well said Katie and Matt. I know Jo not only changed your lives but our entire family's life. You should be so proud that you have been such great stewards of God's tremendous blessings on your family thru Jo and all of you. Happy Birthday Jo! Keep on being you!
