This year Jo's birthday landed on the second day of school.
Following the first school Mass that morning, Fr. Don asked his usual, Any birthdays today?
Jo raised her hand and the whole school sang Happy Birthday to her. She brought a teal-frosted chocolate chip cookie cake to share with her class.
Jo came home and was bombarded with calls, emails and text messages from family near and far. She requested mashed potatoes, meatloaf, watermelon and ice cream cake for her birthday dinner. Coryn volunteered to be photographer as Jo lit her candles. After dessert we all snuggled down in the bonus room for the girls' very first viewing of The Sandlot.
