Summer's end

All good things must come to an end.
The girls soaked up their last days of summer vacation playing with friends, exploring the great outdoors, swimming, getting haircuts and losing baby teeth. Jo requested another visit to Betty Brinn Children's Museum. As long as we packed a picnic lunch and ate outside mom was happy. After naps we ventured over to the Grusenskis for one last dip in the pool and an impromptu taco dinner.

On the morning of Aug. 23rd we loaded up four bins of school supplies and stopped in at school. The girls met their new teachers for the year and reconnected with classmates.

Then it was time to celebrate GG's 88th birthday. We picked up GG and all went to Northpoint for lunch. It was windy and cool at the lakefront. As we drove along Lake Michigan back toward GG's house, GG noticed the unusual clouds in the sky and mused, I bet the sky has never been the same any of the days of my life.

Back at GG's house we enjoyed Kopps custard for dessert. Then the girls settled in the living room for lego playing and cartoon watching. GG didn't approve that the girls would be starting school the very next day, 12 whole days before Labor Day. So we stayed a little longer to relish the last day of summer vacation.
