Eavesdropping on a Tuesday afternoon

I picked up Coryn from school today and asked her to keep Mallory company in the sunroom while I fixed our lunch. From the kitchen I hear her singing:

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

A moment later Coryn's singing voice changes into a dramatic reading voice:

A proclamation from St. Paul to the Romans,
Brothers and Sisters,
Mirror, mirror on the wall.
The Word of the Lord.

A few mintues later I hear snip-its of Coryn's version of the Eucharistic Prayer:

Jesus took the bread and broke it, saying this is my blood.

When lunch is ready we sit at the table and pause to pray.
Coryn leads the prayer:

ABC, 123, May God bless the food we eat. Amen.

Then, as we take our first bite, Coryn says:

We pray before we eat to say thank you to God for making food. God rains food down from heaven and gives it to the farmers. The farmers pick the food and take it to the grocery store so we can buy it.

After lunch Coryn asks me to read four "chapters" of her new Bible. She picks out stories about Jonah, Paul's conversion, Feeding the 5,000 and Zacchaeus. After the last story Coryn skips down the hall and snuggles down for a nap.

Uncle Marc, we may have a little lector in the making.

(Side note: Anyone looking for a Children's Bible, I HIGHLY recommend this one: The Jesus Storybook Bible, Every Story Whispers His Name.)

A lector? How about a theology professor! Maybe I should take notes from Coryn next time I visit? Or have her ghost-write my dissertation?

LOVE THIS! She's a witness (Mt 19:14)!
