Saturday afternoon Gloria was baptized. We arranged to use St. James historic chapel, a small church built in 1848 and made a special request for Fr. Carmelo to be the celebrant. Gloria wore the family baptismal gown made from Great Grandma Jo's wedding dress. She was the 19th child to be baptized in it. Godparents Omar and Brittany placed a hand on Gloria as Fr. Mel poured the water over her head.
It was a sticky rainy day but eventually the sun came out. We gathered the Mescher clan in the front yard for a family photo of the joyous occasion.
