Your donation to our mission fund is at work in The Philippines!
A few weeks ago we were given the opportunity to sponsor a couple to be sacramentally married in The Philippines. Sammy and Lindsey Romero served for several years in The Philippines. While they were there they met families who were struggling and came to find out that many couples had not been married in the Catholic Church. There were a number obstacles to being married, some financial and others more practical, such as obtaining a copy of both the bride and groom's baptismal certificate.
And so they began ministering to these couples by teaching about the sacrament of marriage and what it means to be joined in covenant by God's grace. In addition to regular meetings with the couples, they helped make arrangements for a celebration, including a wedding dress rental, food for the reception and assisting with obtaining any documents that are required. Several couples prepared together and were married on the same day at mass. The cost for each couple to be married is $200 (in U.S. dollars).
What began as a ministry to help strengthen marriages and families has grown! This November 34 couples were married in the Catholic Church!
Before their wedding day Lindsey gave us a photo of the couple we are sponsoring along with their names and family history:
The groom, Kim (25) is a brand new fire fighter and the bride, Jayann (24) is a manicurist.
They have 3 children and are civilly married. They have been together since they were 15 and 17 years old!
They ask for prayers that God will bless their marriage as they finally receive the Sacrament in the Church and for steady income for their family. Their youngest child was also baptized on their wedding day!
