This morning is a morning like many others.
The house is quiet. It is pitch black outside. Rain is pouring off our roof.
Daniel is nestled back in his crib after nursing him. I light a new incense coil to keep the mosquitoes at bay. Our solar system alarm goes off because we have drained all the power.
Here I sit in the dark.
Wide awake.
I am thankful. The rain has brought cooler temperatures - mid 70s. I am thankful to not be sweating and not to feel dehydrated or weak. I am thankful to be healthy. I am thankful for a strong enough internet signal to connect with our friends and family back home. I am thankful for hope and peace in my heart.
The church bells ring. The roosters start to crow. The donkeys join in the call to beckon the start of a new day.
Thank you Heavenly Father for creating this beautiful, rugged land.
Thank you Jesus for carrying us through the trials and the change.
Thank you Holy Spirit for leading and guiding and breathing new life into me, my marriage, my family.
