One morning, I looked out of my window
and I saw a baby donkey with its mother. It was so cute. I wanted to go outside
to ride it. I knew that I couldn’t ride
it because it was too small. It looked like it was born last night. I walked
outside and I saw the baby donkey’s umbelical cord on the ground… it was born last night right outside our house!
I thought we would have it in our yard as long as the baby donkey couldn't walk. But I was wrong.
That very day a Haitian walked right in front of our house. He said he spoke English and he had a family in Miami. He said he had a garden but it wasn't really a garden. It was more like a farm. He raised pigs, goats, cows and last but not least, HORSES!!!
He had two horses. I and Coryn got to ride one of his horses. It was so fun. There were many mangoes and did you know that there are different varieties of mangoes? One you had to squish and bite a little hole on top of
the mango. And the juice would come right out. It was almost like a go-gurt. But it was much healthier than a go-gurt. And there was one that was almost as big as my mom's face.
When we got home the mama and baby donkeys were gone. I was so sad. I cried myself to sleep. We had given it four gallons of water because the owner never fed it any water. We used the tub that we washed our hands in and I dumped all of the soapy water out. And I filled it with water. The next morning I went outside in my pajamas and I went to the place in my yard where the donkeys had been. I picked up the tub that the donkey had drank out of and what the baby donkey had seen its reflection in the water when it was full. It was empty now so I picked it up and sat crisscross applesauce and put it face down on my lap. And I said a prayer for the donkey to come back.
The End.

Wonderful story Mallory!! It made me wish l could have been there to experience the donkeys with you. Plus riding a horse!! A great smile crept over my face when you revealed that you were able to ride it! We all know your love of horses. Hopefully you’ll be able to ride many more times?
